AI consulting for telecom, broadband and fiber providers

Native helps telecom, broadband and fiber providers put AI agents into customer care, provisioning, billing disputes and field service. Agents resolve routine contacts after verifying the customer, fix stuck orders before anyone notices, and work billing disputes from the account record. Every agent works inside the BSS, OSS and care platforms you already run.

Where AI has an impact in telecommunications

Customer care

Account, billing and service questions resolved in chat, voice and email after the customer is verified.

Billing disputes

Each dispute traced to its cause, with the adjustment drafted within policy.

Order fallout

Stuck orders diagnosed and fixed before the activation date slips.

Number porting

Port requests checked for mismatched details before they are rejected.

Outage notification

Affected customers identified and told about the outage and the restoration estimate.

Remote troubleshooting

Modem and line checks run before a truck roll is booked.

Field service scheduling

Appointments booked and moved, with the job notes the technician needs attached.

Retention offers

Customers who ask to cancel get the plan or offer that fits their usage, within rules your team sets.

Why care costs decide margins in telecom

Telecom providers run on high volumes of low-margin relationships, so the cost of each contact matters. A large share of calls and chats are about the same few things: a bill that looks wrong, a service that is down, an order that has not activated, an appointment that needs moving.

Many of those contacts exist only because something went wrong upstream. An order fell out of provisioning, a promotion expired without notice, a technician arrived without the right equipment. Agents can answer the contact, and better still, they can fix the cause before the customer calls.

Provisioning and order fallout

An order that falls out between the BSS and the network sits in a queue until someone spots it, often when the customer calls to ask why nothing works. Most fallout comes from a handful of repeat causes: a mismatched address, a missing port record, an inventory conflict.

Agents watch the fallout queues, diagnose each order against the known causes, fix the routine ones and route the rest with the diagnosis written out. Activation dates hold, and customers hear about a delay from you before they have to ask.

Customer data and authentication

Under FCC rules on customer proprietary network information, a provider has to authenticate a caller before discussing call details or account specifics. Agents follow the same authentication steps your human team does, log every verification, and never reveal protected information to someone who has not passed.

Customer data stays in your own systems and cloud accounts. Each agent gets only the access its task needs, and every action it takes is recorded for your compliance team.

The systems we work with

Agents work inside the billing, order management and care systems you already run, such as Amdocs, CSG, Netcracker, Salesforce, ServiceNow and Zendesk, and alongside your network monitoring and field service tools. They act through those systems' own interfaces, so every change is visible to the rest of your team.

How to measure the impact

  • Contacts resolved without an agent
  • Days to resolve a billing dispute
  • Orders that fall out of provisioning, and time to fix them
  • Truck rolls avoided by remote diagnosis
  • Repeat contacts within 30 days

Case study · A regional fiber and broadband provider

A fiber provider resolved half its customer chats without staff and settled billing disputes in a day.

Native helped a regional fiber provider put agents on customer chat and billing disputes. Routine contacts now resolve without a care agent, and disputes are worked from a written diagnosis instead of a phone call.

The challenge

The care team was growing with the network build, and much of its volume came from billing questions and disputes that took several days and several calls to settle. Each new market added contacts faster than the provider could hire.

What we built

  • A chat agent that verifies each customer, answers account and service questions, and hands anything it cannot settle to a person with the conversation attached.
  • A billing dispute agent that traces each disputed charge to its cause and drafts the adjustment within policy for approval.
  • A weekly report of the top causes of contacts and disputes, so the billing and network teams could fix them at the source.

The result

Customers got answers in minutes, disputes stopped dragging on for days, and the provider could add markets without adding care staff at the same rate.

Frequently asked questions

What does an AI consultant do for a telecom company?

An AI consultant maps where customer care, provisioning and billing lose time, then builds agents that resolve contacts and fix their causes inside your BSS and OSS. At Native, nobody hands a slide deck to a separate build team: the people who map the work write the agents and stay through launch.

Can AI handle telecom customer service calls?

AI can resolve routine account, billing and service contacts after verifying the customer, in chat, voice and email. Complex problems go to a person with the conversation and the diagnosis attached.

How does AI reduce billing disputes?

By tracing each disputed charge to its cause, such as an expired promotion or a proration error, drafting the fix within policy, and reporting repeat causes so they get fixed upstream.

Is AI customer care compliant with CPNI rules?

It can be. Agents follow the same authentication steps as your human team before discussing account details, and every verification is logged.

Where should a telecom provider start with AI?

Usually billing questions and disputes, or order fallout. Both drive a large share of contacts and show their impact within weeks.
